GVFTF Returns to RBC Race for the Kids: Celebrating 5 Years of Community Support

On June 8, 2025, the Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival will be joining RBC Race for the Kids for our 5th consecutive year, continuing our commitment to supporting BC Children’s Hospital through this important event. As we mark this milestone, we’re reflecting on what this partnership means to us and sharing everything you need to know about this year’s event.

Our Ongoing Commitment to Community

Since 2021, GVFTF has been proud to support RBC Race for the Kids, one of BC’s most significant fundraising events for children’s health. What began as a single-year participation has evolved into an annual tradition that embodies our values of community support and giving back.

As local business owners operating throughout the Lower Mainland, we understand the importance of supporting the institutions that serve our communities. BC Children’s Hospital touches countless families across the province, and we’re honored to play a small part in their fundraising efforts.

About RBC Race for the Kids

For those unfamiliar with this incredible event, RBC Race for the Kids is BC’s largest family fun run, bringing together thousands of participants to raise funds for BC Children’s Hospital. Since 1986, this event has made a tremendous impact on child health in our province.

The Impact

The statistics behind this event are both sobering and inspiring:

  • Approximately 130 children in BC are diagnosed with cancer each year
  • Every 3-4 days, a child is diagnosed with diabetes, a life-long disease with no cure
  • Over 95,000 children and youth in BC are living with mental health conditions – but only 40% receive the care they need

Through community support and events like RBC Race for the Kids, BC Children’s Hospital can continue its vital research, expand mental health programs, and provide critical care to children across the province.

  • Live entertainment and activities
  • The opportunity to connect with other families supporting this important cause
