Get ready for a culinary adventure like no other as Food Truck Wars 2025 brings together the most innovative food trucks in Surrey for a weekend of delicious competition. This year’s event, happening April 11-13, features 35 amazing local food trucks, scheduled live entertainment including Dueling Pianos, Event Pour Co. side-wide beer, BC Shop Local Artisan Market, and a dedicated Kid Zone with family-friendly activities.

But what truly sets this food festival apart is the NEW Creative Food Challenge, where vendors have developed exclusive festival-only dishes to compete for your vote and the coveted Most Creative Food award. From sweet to savoury, traditional to boundary-pushing, these one-of-a-kind creations showcase the incredible talent and imagination of our local food truck scene.

Let’s dive into the mouthwatering lineup of creative dishes you can try at Food Truck Wars 2025:

Sweet Sensations

BeaverTails: Honey Toast Tail ($10)
This nostalgic creation features a buttery base coated in cinnamon sugar, topped with crushed Cinnamon Toast Crunch for delightful crunch, drizzled with golden honey, and finished with a swirl of sweetened condensed milk. Inspired by weekend breakfast memories, this vegetarian dessert combines comfort and creativity in every bite.

Betty’s Greek Honey Ballz: LoukouSplit ($15)
Experience a delicious fusion with this Greek twist on a classic dessert. Warm Loukoumades (traditional Greek honey balls) are layered with chocolaty banana, topped with ice cream and whipped cream, then drizzled with strawberry and chocolate sauce before being crowned with a cherry. This vegetarian-friendly dessert reimagines two beloved treats in one unforgettable experience.

Churros Locos: Churro Sundae ($12)
Sometimes simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. This dessert combines hot, sweet churros with creamy vanilla ice cream, chocolate and caramel sauces, and a cloud of whipped cream. The perfect harmony of warm, crispy churros and cold, creamy ice cream makes this a festival must-try.

Gary’s Kettle Corn: Chocolate Apple Caramel ($10)
A kettle corn creation crafted with sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa, this treat is designed to deliver complex flavors without being overly sweet. Remarkably versatile, it’s dairy-free and suitable for multiple dietary preferences including vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free, gluten-free, and keto diets.

Mini Donut Factory: Dill Pickle Mini Donuts ($10)
Possibly the most unexpected creation at this year’s event! These warm, fluffy mini donuts come coated in a zesty, tangy, garlicky dill pickle seasoning for a unique sweet and savory combination. For adventurous eaters, this vegetarian-friendly creation brings together classic fair food with the trending pickle flavor profile.

Savoury Standouts

This meal-in-a-bowl features a crispy tortilla bowl filled with lettuce, black beans, corn, and pico de gallo. Choose your protein (chicken, beef, pork, or seasonal vegetables), then enjoy it topped with sour cream, avocado sauce, and chipotle, garnished with green onion and tortilla chips. Available in vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free, and sugar-free versions.

G’s Donairs: The Hot Mess ($17)
The name says it all! This bold donair features marinated chicken topped with a spicy sweet and sour sauce, hot peppers, and pineapple, with optional lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. A flavor explosion that lives up to its memorable name.

GuerillaQ: BBQ Sundae Split ($25)
This keto-friendly creation offers a playful presentation featuring your choice of two premium smoked meats served on a bed of cornbread with beans, coleslaw, and smoked sausage, finished with scratch-made BBQ sauce. Just Jerkin Around: Jamaicanadian Curry Chicken Burger ($15 with fries, $11.50 burger alone)
This fusion burger features traditional Jamaican curry-seasoned chicken simmered with onions, garlic, scallion, thyme, and Chef Asher’s secret seasoning. Topped with sweet kale slaw and finished with a tangy-sweet secret sauce, this lactose-free creation represents the chef’s immigrant journey by combining Caribbean curry traditions with Canadian burger culture.

Melt Town Grilled Cheese: Mexican Grilled Cheese ($16)
The result of months of testing, this fusion sandwich features custom-made Texas toast-inspired baguette filled with a proprietary four-cheese blend, seasoned taco beef, diced tomatoes, fresh cilantro, sour cream, and jalapeños. Every bite delivers the perfect balance of crispy, cheesy, spicy, and savoury goodness.

Roasted Revolution: BBQ Corn Ribs ($14)
Fresh sweet corn cut into quarters and roasted to cleverly resemble ribs, then tossed in a BBQ seasoning mix for a sweet & salty taste with a kick. Served with bang bang dipping sauce, this vegetarian and lactose-free dish offers a new, fun way to enjoy corn on the cob.

ShawarmaTime: Triple Loaded Wrap/Combo ($17-26)
This packed wrap doesn’t hold back, featuring beef AND chicken shawarma AND crispy falafel, homemade garlic sauce, and fresh veggies (lettuce, pickles, tomatoes), all wrapped in a griddle tortilla wrap. Originally created for a private catering event, this sugar-free dish can be made gluten-free upon request.

Tokyo Katsu-sand: Koroke Katsusand ($15.50)
Created in response to customer demand, this vegetarian sandwich features a handmade potato croquette patty served with their signature Katsu sauce and creamy mayo. This clever creation combines Japanese street food tradition with Canadian comfort food by using potatoes as the main ingredient.

Truckin’ BBQ: Truck It Up Sandwich ($20)
This BBQ beast stacks tender brisket, juicy pulled pork, AND smoked sausage on a brioche bun. A drizzle of house-made BBQ sauce adds a perfect touch of sweetness, while creamy coleslaw brings the perfect crunch to this triple-meat masterpiece.
